Today, Balmain and evian announce the second phase of their continued partnership with the launch of a capsule collection of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories.

Deftly pairing classic sportswear silhouettes with the shades of soft pastels that one immediately associates with Balmain runways, the evian universe and, above all, the joys of summer, Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing and his design team have created a series of eye-catching, limited-edition ready-to-wear and accessory designs for the second Balmain x evian collaboration. Relying on a wide variety of eco-friendly practices, materials and innovations, the collection of laid-back styles and accessories places the collaboration’s focus squarely on the powerful possibilities of a future world of fashion sustainability, all grouped under the distinctive tagline of “Together, change is beautiful.”

Olivier Rousteing and his design team, determined to continue pushing the possibilities of sustainable fashion as far as possible, worked to incorporate a wide variety of materials—including GOTS-certified1 organic cottons, FSC-certified2 viscose and several GRS-Certified3 recycled materials—into the extensive offering of swimsuits, tees, hoodies, bombers, trucker jackets and jeans. Balmain and evian’s shared commitments to eco-friendly practices can be spotted in even the smallest details, including recycled polyester label and composition stickers, paper packaging that relies on pulp from sustainably managed FSC-certified forests and recycled plastic hangers and bags.

Most of the capsule’s everyday summer looks play with new takes on soft pastels, with a host of interesting gradient treatments. A beautifully embroidered short blue dress, crafted by the Balmain atelier using Forest Stewardship Council certified viscose, makes it very clear that sustainability can definitely be Balmain runway ready.

“Balmain’s first partnership with evian helped show that sustainable practices can make for impressive outcomes. But, for me, that was only a starting point. If we want to continue creating beauty, while respecting the beauty of this planet, there’s just so much more that all of us in the fashion world should be doing now. We need to test and perfect new techniques in sourcing, recycling, upcycling, sustainably producing— and yes, I know, the list can sometimes seem endless. Luckily, evian shares Balmain’s dedication to searching for new possibilities—and with this second Balmain x evian capsule, we aim to make very clear that conscience and creativity can actually work quite well together."

“We are thrilled to share the latest iteration of our collaboration with iconic Parisian fashion House of Balmain,” notes evian Global Director Dawid Borowiec. “It is truly special to have the opportunity to come together with a fellow French pioneer who also values cutting-edge innovations, to collectively illustrate the beauty of togetherness. We are so excited to launch this first collection of Balmain x evian ready-to-wear, available for all evian fans and Balmain followers across the globe to purchase online and instore.”

About Balmain

More than 75 years ago, when Pierre Balmain first introduced his “New French Style,” it immediately became clear to all that his eponymous house was offering a distinctly fresh, bold and feminine conception of haute couture, one which broke with many of the well-established conventions of the era. His audaciousness paid off. Pierre Balmain became one of the handful of young French talents who ushered in the mid-century’s golden age of couture and helped to re-establish Paris as the world’s fashion capital. Since 2011, Balmain’s Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, has been inventively building upon Pierre Balmain’s extraordinary legacy, while always remaining true to his own determination to design clothes that reflect the way his inclusive, powerful and global Balmain Army wishes to live today. The result is a unique and instantly recognizable Balmain silhouette, style and attitude that highlights the singular craftsmanship of the house’s celebrated ateliers, while consistently referencing a rich Parisian heritage.

About the ‘Together, Change Is Beautiful’ Campaign

Both Balmain and evian have deep roots in Savoy, the beautiful, mountainous region of southeastern France. House founder Pierre Balmain was born in the small Alpine village of Saint Jean de Maurienne, not far from the impressive peaks where evian’s water first begins its famous fifteen-year underground filtering process. The campaign for the second Balmain x evian collaboration highlights that shared origin story, with filmmaker and photographer Carlota Guerrero filming the highly acclaimed dance troupe La Marche Bleue amid the beauty of snowy summits. Inspired by the collaboration’s “Together, Change Is Beautiful” message, choreographer Leo Walk designed sequences that would be impossible to perform alone—but are sublime when performed together. Reflecting on the campaign, Guerrero noted: “I always strive to create a safe space for people to feel respected, beautiful and connected in my work. Togetherness and the natural beauty that comes with it are such important parts of this campaign and it was a pleasure to work on something that is so in line with my own personal beliefs.” The ‘Together, Change is Beautiful" campaign was created by Wieden + Kennedy.
