Black-and-white and Balmain all over.
Although relying on only two tones, Balmain’s striking black-and-white designs manage to have a dynamic presence in every collection, playing with strong graphic lines, surprising juxtapositions and oversize patterns. Creations may be monochrome—but, of course, Balmain could never be monotone.
REPEATING PATTERNS
In particular, Rousteing loves to continually surprise with new B&W takes on the classic pied-de-poule—which we know as houndstooth, in English—as well as petits pois (polka dots). The house’s signature pattern, The Balmain Labyrinth, is also a key black-and-white addition to every season’s runway,
